The Advantages of a Family Camping Trip

Spending quality time with the family seems harder and harder to do for many of us, there are just too many other pressures and commitments for us to consider. Coupled with the fact that both adults and children in the United States are struggling to get enough exercise and stay in shape, anything that can help to address both of these goals simultaneously must surely be a good thing. This is where the family camping trip comes in.

Camping is something that most of us have fond memories of doing at some point in our lives and for many of us, camping trips were important family bonding experiences, something that we wish to repeat with our own children at some point. There are a number of reasons that camping is a particularly good way of achieving this, as it is a unique activity with countless benefits for families.

Bonding

Being in the great outdoors without access to the usual amenities and trappings of our modern lives means that we are all forced to adapt and to think differently about even the most mundane daily tasks. In particular, because there are no television or games consoles around (although given how advanced cell phones are now we cannot escape these things entirely), we are encouraged to talk to and spend time with one another. Camping is a fantastic way to encourage some family bonding and to remind one another what it is that unites us all.  You can check out My Family Tent for an idea of the tents and activities you can enjoy.

Fresh Air

It has been known for quite some time now that exercise is a very effective way of improving our overall health and wellbeing. It isn’t just our physical health that benefits from exercise; our emotional wellbeing also receives a significant boost. There is an increasing body of evidence that shows that just by being outside and getting some fresh air, we could be improving our general sense of wellbeing. Ecotherapy is a new form of therapy in which patients are exposed to open, green spaces, where they find that this alone is enough to help to alleviate feelings of sadness.

Reduce Stress

Vacations can often be stressful experiences, especially when you have to contend with hotel bookings, driving between destinations, and being surrounded by other families. Camping is a great way to take a more secluded, private vacation with your family. The goal here should be to reduce the amount of stress that you are exposed to, not to increase it. When you return from your camping trip, you will hopefully feel more positive and energized, not less.

Taking a camping trip with your family is by far one of the best ways that you can spend a vacation. Not only do you get to get away from the monotony of daily life and take a break from the usual stresses of work, but you will also get to experience the great outdoors alongside the people that you love the most.
