As the saying goes, “you are what you eat.” However, many people don’t pay attention to what they eat and don’t think about how it affects their body. Meanwhile, an unhealthy diet can be the cause of many diseases.
Gastritis and Ulcers
Gastritis is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa. This is the most common disease of the gastrointestinal tract. Doctors attribute this illness directly to an unhealthy diet, which consists of fast-food and prepacked dishes. It’s very hard to cure chronic gastritis, and if you do not fight it, it can develop into a stomach ulcer.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body cannot self-assimilate sugar. People who suffer from it have to make injections of insulin – a substance that promotes the absorption of sugar. Diabetes mainly arises if a person has a genetic predisposition. However, metabolic disorders are a platform for the development of diabetes. That’s why you should always control how much sugar you consume.
Fast-food can become a direct cause of constipation. At some point, the gastrointestinal tract ceases to cope with the increased stress caused by dry, fatty, and poorly digestible foods. With daily consumption of spicy food, there is a systematic and excessive blood supply, so the outflow of blood is disturbed, which causes thrombosed hemorrhoids.
If you systematically don’t receive enough vitamins or minerals in your diet, sooner or later your body will react. A deficiency of vitamin A, found mainly in vegetables, causes problems with eyesight. A lack of vitamin B, iodine, and folic acid, causes a delay in mental development.
Acne and Pimples
Although your diet rarely affects acne directly, it creates certain conditions in the body, in which acne is more likely to form. The food you eat affects the production of certain hormones which contribute to the appearance of acne. If you want healthy skin, forget about fatty, salty, or fried foods, plus sugar and alcohol.
As you can see, a healthy diet is crucial to your overall health. If you’ve been unsuccessfully fighting a certain disease for a long time, take a closer look at your diet and try to change it.
